What are the differences between call forwarding and VoIP?

Tips & Tricks

When it comes to the right phone system for your business, there's actually more options available than you might think. Depending on your requirements, you can tailor your system to suit you best. This can help to minimise both cost, and the time required to maintain the service.

Dial 9 provides two primary options for customers, Call Forwarding, and our Business Phone service. In this post, we'll explain those two services and their advantages.

What is Call Forwarding?

Call forwarding at its heart, is a very simple and easy to manage service. All you need to get started, is a number (normally a mobile) to divert all incoming calls to. With no requirement to set anything up such as an app on your mobile device, or a physical desk phone, you can set up a new number in minutes.

Dial 9's call forwarding service starts at £5/month and provides an incoming landline number (01, 02, or 03), a voicemail box and 60 minutes of forwarded calls to all the major UK mobile networks, all you need to get started.

This service is very popular with small businesses that might want to present a landline number to their customers, but don't need to actually make calls out using that number.

What is the Business Phone service?

Business Phone, is a fully featured telephone service that allows a business to both make, and receive calls through a number of different methods, such as via a mobile app, using software on a computer (often referred to as a Softphone), or a physical VoIP device.

Starting at £4.99/month per device, which we call Extensions. You just need an internet connection to get started. You can also purchase a number of additional features that might be useful to businesses, such as an IVR Menu to allow a caller to choose from a list of options, a Call Queue if you're receiving large numbers of incoming calls, or a Conference Room for prearranged telephone meetings between multiple parties.

You can find out more about the Business Phone service on our website, at https://www.dial9.co.uk/business-phone.

Whichever route you decide to go down, you will always have the option to move to the other service in future, should your requirements change. The Dial 9 support team can normally migrate a customer from one service to the other on the same working day as requested.

If you have any questions about either of the services that we have to offer, please don't hesitate to reach out.
