Configuring FreePBX for use with Dial 9 SIP trunks

The following guide is to assist with getting your Dial 9 SIP trunks connected to your FreePBX system and is written with the understanding that you have already configured your Dial 9 SIP trunks within the Dial 9 Portal. We do have another guide to help with setting up Dial 9 SIP trunks.

Once your SIP trunks are configured within the Dial 9 portal please log into your FreePBX admin area.

Select Connectivity > Trunks.

Setting up the inbound trunk

  • Select +Add Trunk.
  • In the General tab please enter Dial_9_Inbound in the Trunk Name field and add your Dial 9 number to the Outbound CallerID field.
  • In the PJSIP Settings please set Authentication to None, Registration to None, and then enter the SIP Server (you can see the IP address to add in the SIP Servers area in Dial 9 Connect, on the right hand side) and set the SIP Server Port to 5060.
  • In the Advanced tab within PJSIP Settings, set DTMF Mode to RFC 4733 and Qualify Frequency to 0.
  • You can now press Submit to save these settings.

You would now need to set up a second inbound trunk, as above, but with the SIP Server of 185.110.248.8. This can be done using the Duplicate option when editing an existing trunk.

Setting up the outbound trunk

  • Select +Add Trunk.
  • In the General tab please enter Dial_9_Outbound in the Trunk Name field and add your Dial 9 number to the Outbound CallerID field. We recommend using E.164 format for outbound caller ID entries, i.e. 441234567890.
  • In the PJSIP Settings please set Authentication to None, Registration to None, and then enter the SIP Server as sip.dial9.co.uk and set the SIP Server Port to 5060.
  • You can now press Submit to save these settings.

Setting up the inbound route

Select Connectivity > Inbound Routes.

  • Select +Add Inbound Route.
  • In the Description field please enter Dial 9 Inbound Route.
  • Use the Set Destination field to select the destination for the number. This could be a menu, call group etc.
  • You can now press Submit to save these settings.

Setting up the outbound route

Select Connectivity > Outbound Routes.

  • Select +Add Outbound Route.
  • In the Route Settings tab in the Description field please enter Dial 9 Outbound Route.
  • Next to Trunk Sequence for Matched Routes please select Dial_9_Outbound.
  • In the Dial Patterns tab please match the screenshot below: FreePBX Dial Pattern
  • You can now press Submit to save these settings and then Apply Config.

Your FreePBX is now configured to work with your Dial 9 SIP trunks.
